How many library books are kids allowed to have at a time?
- Kinder to 4th graders are allowed to have 2 books at a time; 5th graders are allowed to have 3 books at a time.
What do I do if I can't find my book?
- Look for it! Common places lost books are found include: bookcase at home, under the car seat, bookcase in the classroom, or school lost-and-found. Sometimes books find their way back to the library, so ask your librarian to check if the book is still on your record. If you don't know what the book looks like, ask your librarian to print you a picture of the cover. If the book cannot be located, you can ask the librarian the price of the book, and you can pay for it with cash or a check payable to LWE.
What do I do if I ruin my library book?
- Ask your librarian how much the book costs. You can pay for it with cash or a check payable to LWE.

What is the LWE library schedule?
What reading programs can my child participate in?
- In the fall, K-3 have monthly reading logs with incentives. You can access a paper reading log OR can use the Beanstack app.
- In the fall, grades 4-5 participate in the Bluebonnet Reading Program -- read 5 and decide! Students who read 5 books, including at least 3 chapter books, and complete quizzes to show that they have read, will be invited to a Bluebonnet Field Trip to BCMS in February.
- Our winter reading program is Waves of Pages from Schlitterbahn Water Park. Read 10 hours for fun and earn a ticket to Schlitterbahn!
- The spring reading program is our One Book One School. We are encouraging students and families to read The Mouse and the Motorcycle as a read-together. Students can turn in a selfie of their family reading the book and turn in their selfie to receive a prize. Students can complete a reading log and turn it in to the librarian by to be invited to a special library event.
