How many library books are kids allowed to have at a time?

  • Students in grades PK & K are allowed to check out 1 book at a time.
  • Students in grades 1st-5th may check out 2 books at a time. 

What do I do if I can't find my book?

  • Look for it! Common places lost books are found include: bookcase at home, under the car seat, bookcase in the classroom, or school lost-and-found. Sometimes books find their way back to the library, so ask your librarian to check if the book is still on your record. If you don't know what the book looks like, ask your librarian to print you a picture of the cover. If the book still cannot be located, you can ask the librarian the price of the book, and you can pay for it with cash or a check payable to LWE.

What do I do if I ruin my library book?

  • Ask your librarian how much the book costs. You can pay for it with cash or a check payable to LWE.

What reading incentive programs can my child participate in?

  • In grades K-2 may choose to participate in the 2x2 Reading Program -- with the help of their teachers, each classroom will have the opportunity to read all 20 of the current 2x2 books! Each book read will earn their class a brag tag. Classes that collect all 20 brag tags will earn a special prize!
  • In grades 3-5 may choose to participate in the Bluebonnet Reading Program -- read 5 and decide!  Students in 3rd who read 5 books, including at least 2 chapter books, and complete quizzes to show that they have read, will be invited to a special library event. Students in 4th & 5th, who read 5 books, including at least 3 chapter books, and complete quizzes to show that they have read, will be invited to a field trip in February. With each book read and quiz passed students will earn a new brag tag.
  • Waves of Pages is a Reading Program offered by Schlitterbahn Waterpark.  Students in PK-5th can read 10 hours for fun, complete a log, and earn a ticket to Schlitterbahn!
  • The spring reading program is our One Book One School. Our entire community comes together to read the same book. We encourage students and families to read together. Students can turn in a selfie of their family reading the book to the library to receive a prize.

    • Shopping - Nov. 10, 11, 12
  • Spring book fair: 
    • Preview - Mar. 1
    • Shopping - Mar. 2, 3, 4
